New height regulation curb condo construction in Kyoto.
Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported a new building regulation, which will come into effect this September, has already impeded new condo construction in downtown Kyoto. That is because developers predict stricter regulation on building height as well as rising land prices make new development less profitable. Some developers are planning to shift their focus on suburban Kyoto such as Fushimi-ward, where the regulations are relatively loose.
